DATA SCIENCE FOR MASSIVE (DYNAMIC) NETWORKS

Abstract: Data science tools, such as data mining and optimization heuristics, have been used to analyze many large (and massive) data-sets that can be represented as a network. In these networks, certain attributes are associated with vertices and edges. This analysis often provides useful information about the internal structure of the datasets they represent. We are going to discuss our work on several networks from telecommunications (call graph), financial networks (market graph), social networks, and neuroscience.

COSCH$^{KR}$: STRUCTURAL REPRESENTATION OF CH DOCUMENTATION

Abstract: Cultural Heritage is arguably one of most diverse field where experts from multi-disciplines concentrate on activities to achieve a common goal. Even diversity in CH applications: from discovery to restoration and analysis of objects, do not exclude the inclusion of these diverse communities to perform various activities in coordinated ways. In order to achieve this high degree of communicative understanding between such diverse groups of experts, a reliable platform is needed for the coordination of information exchange. The ongoing work on development of COSCH$^{KR}$ (COSCH Knowledge Representation) within COSCH (Color and Space in Cultural Heritage) - a COST Action intends to provide such platform. The purpose is threefold: 1) to build technical and cultural understanding between cross domain experts for better understand and evaluate situation of other domains 2) to facilitate CH experts in anticipating the technical complexities for their respective CH applications 3) to support the technical experts in evaluating CH applications and related objects for better management of the technologies and related techniques required. The model includes technical specifications and usages of technical fields of spatial and spectral disciplines.

COSCH$^{KR}$ is a knowledge model expressed through Web Ontology Language (OWL). It is an inference model with enriched facts, rules and heuristics that binds different expert domains and structurally and conceptually different from CIDOC-CRM. The knowledge model is primarily design to guide experts in CH domains through the technically complexity while recording the CH objects for his/her application. It is not intended to design that stores this process and results through storing meta and para data of the documentation.
