(3) Unity

The contrast indeed is an important factor to give us a pleasant feeling since it has a strong stimulation. However, if each elements are all different and not organized, higher level of the pleasant feeling will not be obtained. Thus, something to unify the total screen is required. Only when an active feeling is created by organically combining "variation" and "unity", the higher level of unity in arts is obtained. This is exactly the same as "unification of variations" in the aesthetics.

· The unity is utilized to seek illusion as shown in Figure 278. The each symbols which have different meanings are organized to compose a screen with a strong feeling of unity by homogenizing them on the shapes and colors. An inscrutable feeling was tried to be naturally expressed. (colors: the whole screen is unified by arranging similar the blue-green system.)
