Illusion and Impossible Diagrams (A)

1 -- Psychology of illusions

The problem of "sight" is important in a plane KOHSEI (Basic Art & Design).

Objects influence each other on a screen, which generates the illusion that one of the objects looks smaller, larger, and/or they look deformed. In a word, visual effects appearing on a screen are most important in arts, and the physical shape calculated from the actual measurement of a model is not an issue. Therefore, an artist must be acquainted with such a problem as "sight". This is an important and fundamental knowledge which should be known to all working on two-dimensional models, including painters and graphic designers. It would be extremely wonderful if a new method of visual expression could be created by exploring these problems in depth.
