(ii) Photogram

A different method of using shadows is shown in Figure 557. This is a unique field to express two-dimensional shapes using lights and their shadows. In the case of commercial photographs, efforts are being made to avoid the appearance of shadows by surrounding an object with lights. This way, shadows are sometimes disturbing, but on the contrary, are useful in other cases. Photogram is an art to compose using shadows of objects without using a camera. The difference from usual shadows is that an object provides an area by disturbing lights. In other words, the part of the "shadow" becomes white.
