(4) Focusing arrangement

Here is another type of KOHSEI (Basic Art & Design). In the focus-oriented KOHSEI (Basic Art & Design) things are concentrated into one point. It has such a strong sense of unity and dynamics that it is used in various scenes.

When you call a point, which is the target for all shapes in a picture, the focus, it is allowed to position the focus anywhere in the picture. But actually it is rare to choose the corners. Focuses normally have the characteristic of the vanishing point of perspective.

· The proper size of the shape (letters) and its good positioning enable Figure 132 to be an extremely simple expression. This also has the same effect as that of the focus-oriented KOHSEI (Basic Art & Design).

Figure 133 is a work of the one-point-focusing KOHSEI (Basic Art & Design) with a multiplex operation, which is caused by the formative effect of the shapes' differences in size, shade, and direction. Compared to Figure 137 (the spreading type) in page 91, you will notice the characteristics of this effect well.
