From the symmetry point of view, footprints are patterns as well. "Footprint Friezes" are proposed by J.Conway. The first is a "walking frieze" pg, the next three friezes (p1, p1m, pm) can produce a single "jumping man", and for the last three friezes (p2, pgm and pmm) we need at least two of them, or a group of people.
