A COMPARISON OF GAMES INTENDED FOR USE BY PEOPLE WITH ASD
This lecture presents a comparative overview of serious games designed for use by individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), focusing on educational, therapeutic, and cognitive training applications. A range of existing and widely used games is analysed with respect to their aims, gameplay mechanics, interaction methods, feedback systems, and overall design. The comparison highlights common approaches such as the use of avatars and social simulation, logic and puzzle-based tasks, adaptive and mastery-based progression, and strong visual reinforcement. This lecture serves as an initial inquiry into what key aspects/mechanics are found in successful games for people with ASD, and is a stepping stone for designing one such game in the future.
