INFLUENCE OF BASE ISOLATION AND PLASTIC HINGE MODELING ON THE DYNAMIC RESPONSE OF FRAME STRUCTURES
This research analyzes the influence of high damping rubber bearings (HDRB) on the dynamic response of a reinforced concrete frame structure under earthquake excitation. Both base-isolated and fixed-base structures are considered, as well as regular and irregular configurations in plan and elevation. In the second part of the study, the dynamic response of a steel frame structure subjected to seismic loading is analyzed. Different modeling approaches for the behavior of plastic hinges in the steel structure are examined. A comparative analysis was carried out for the natural periods of vibration, base shear forces, maximum horizontal displacements, interstory drifts, and the occurrence of plastic hinges. Based on the results, conclusions were drawn regarding the effectiveness of HDRB application, the influence of structural regularity on the dynamic response during seismic loading, and the impact of plastic hinge modeling approaches in the structure.
