The publishing activity of the Mathematical Institute of SASA was inherited from the Mathematicians’ Club, which had been publishing Publications Mathématiques de l’Université de Belgrade since 1932. By the beginning of the Second World War, seven volumes had been published, while the eighth was lost during the bombing of Belgrade on April 6, 1941. In 1947, the Mathematical Institute took over the publication of the journal under a new title, Publications de l’Institut Mathématique and introduced a new numbering system. Interestingly, before the war, articles in Publications were published only in German and French, whereas after the war English and Russian were also introduced. Today, Publications is recognized as one of the leading journals in the field of mathematics. The digitisation of Publications was completed in 2006, and all volumes are now freely available online.
Alongside Publications, which was published in foreign languages, the Institute regularly issued another journal in Serbian until 1954 — Zbornik radova Matematičkog instituta (Proceedings of the Mathematical Institute). The first issue was published in 1951 at the initiative of Jovan Karamata. The journal was conceived as a collection of works in Serbian covering didactics and the methodology of teaching mathematics, book reviews, texts about the Institute’s members and collaborators, as well as materials on the Institute’s activities and history. Although the articles were written in Serbian, abstracts were published in foreign languages. Since1997, papers in the Proceedings have been predominantly published in English. Today, Proceedings is classified as a non-serial publication, and the entire collection is freely available online. The Institute is also a co-publisher of several leading journals in mathematics, computer science, and mechanics: Yugoslav Journal of Operational Research (YUJOR), Computer Science and Information Systems (ComSIS), and Theoretical and Applied Mechanics (TAM).

Publications de l’Institut Mathématique is the oldest Serbian scientific journal in the field of mathematics. It was founded in 1932 under the title Publications Mathématiques de l’Université de Belgrade, thanks to the endowments of Luka Ćelović-Trebinjac and Pavle and Katarina Kurtović. Seven volumes were published before World War II; the eighth volume was lost during the German bombing of Belgrade on April 6, 1941.
Shortly after the founding of the Mathematical Institute of SASA in 1946, the journal resumed publication in 1947 under its present name Publications de l’Institut Mathématique. Due to organisational restructuring within the Institute, a new series of the journal began in 1961. To date, more than 2600 scientific articles have been published.
The early scope of the journal was broad, encompassing not only mathematics but also mechanics and astronomy. Many distinguished Serbian and Yugoslav scientists published their work in the journal, including Anton Bilimovič, Jovan Karamata, Đuro Kurepa, Sibe Mardešić, Milutin Milanković, Mihailo Petrović and Josip Plemelj. Leading international mathematicians such as Paul Montel, Paul Erdős, Wacław Sierpiński, and Saharon Shelah have also contributed.
Most articles are published in English, though papers in Russian, French, and German are also accepted. The journal maintains an extensive exchange programme with scientific institutions worldwide, through which the Institute’s library receives more than 200 journals.

Theoretical and Applied Mechanics (TAM) is an open-access, peer-reviewed journal that publishes original scholarly work across all areas of theoretical and applied mechanics. The journal features high-quality research articles reflecting the broad spectrum of contemporary interest in mechanics. From time to time, TAM publishes special issues devoted to selected topics of wider significance, which are announced in advance. In addition to research articles, these issues may also include review papers. TAM currently publishes one volume per year, consisting of two issues released in June and December.
