POTENTIAL SCENARIO OF CHROMOSOME ARRANGEMENT IN METAPHASEPLATE USING AN OSCILLATORY MODEL OF MITOTIC SPINDLE
The way chromosomes move within the cell is called functional genomic architecture. It is believed that chromosome arrangements during a cell division cycle follow some rules which are not yet known. It is believed that functional genomic architecture could carry additional epigenetic information. We suggest that arrangements of chromosomes in metaphase plate could be considered as bio-combinatorics in which the valuable parameter for studying chromosome position in the cell could be its energy. To study how different arrangements of mouse chromosomes affect the oscillatory energy of homologue chromosome pairs we developed an oscillatory model of mitotic spindle. Using this model we analyzed a potential arrangement of mouse chromosomes in the metaphase plate regarding mass distribution and spindle size. Mitotic spindle was considered as a system of coupled oscillators where one oscillatory pair consists of a centrosome, a microtubule, and a related chromosome that is interconnected with its homologue pair. Extended Lagrange’s differential equations in the matrix form were used for expressing generalized coordinates of each chromosome homologue pair. A different distribution of energy in the system of the mitotic spindle could represent an additional level of codding information that is transferred into the next cell generation. Potential biological implications of different chromosomes arrangement scenarios during metaphase are discussed.
