FREDHOLM TYPE ELEMENTS IN BANACH ALGEBRAS AND THEIR SPECTRUM THEORY
The report studies properties of Fredholm type elements in semisimple Banach algebras, including Fredholm elements, Weyl elements, Browder elements, generalized Fredholm elements, B-Fredholm elements and so on. Meanwhile, perturbations and spectral theories of Fredholm type elements are considered, including the perturbations under socle and quasinilpotent, Weyl type theorems for an element. As an application, we characterize the socle of a primitive C*-algebra by means of the generalized Fredholm elements. At last, the definition of Weyl module for a C*-algebra is given. And it is revealed that all Weyl modules are pairwise operator homotopic.
