SCENARIO FOR THE USAGE OF AUGMENTED REALITY FOR IMPROVEMENT OF INDUSTRIAL OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY
Occupational safety measures in industrial environments are strictly prescribed in order to prevent injuries during the working process. In spite of that, workers are exposed to risks usually caused by the human factor. Augmented reality is a technology that can be used to improve safety and efficiency during the work in industrial environments. Therefore, an AR system solution is realised with aim to assign work tasks to workers, provide necessary instructions for implementing them, and issue related occupational safety instructions directly at the workplace. At the same time, the system provides ability to record all the issued instructions and control their proper execution.
Based on a correspondingly defined architecture of the system, the implementation is done for two concrete industrial environments. In these implementations, different AR technologies are used and tested. Further, an evaluation of the proposed AR system is done through an analysis of data acquisitioned by interviewing both workers and management staff.

DESIGN, MODELLING AND MULTI-OBJECTIVE OPTIMIZATION OF A PIEZOELECTRIC DYNAMIC ABSORBER: A CONCEPTUAL OVERVIEW
Over the last couple of decades there has been a considerable research aimed at combining dynamic absorbers for vibration mitigation, with piezoelectric energy harvesting systems that would transform the mechanical energy of the main structure vibrations into electrical energy. The presenter is currently working on his PhD thesis in this line of research, developing a novel model for an effective piezoelectric dynamic absorber (PEDA), and in this lecture the main concepts of this thesis will be presented. First, the basic design and modelling idea for the proposed PEDA consisting of a system of connected piezoelectric bimorph cantilever beams and applied to bridge vibration reduction will be shown, providing the necessary background for the considered problem. Then the recent contributions and the current research progress regarding the dynamics of the corresponding piezoelectric bimorph cantilevers will be discussed. Finally, the plans for subsequent analysis related to optimization of the model being developed will be described, referring to the relevant literature and pointing out the considered parameters, optimization objectives and some available methods for meeting the chosen optimization and decision-making criteria.
