Seminar for the History and Philosophy of Mathematics, Mechanics, and Astronomy
Chairperson: Dr Milan Božić

This Seminar was created as a workshop for the history of Mathematics with emphasis on Mathematics in Serbia, about half a century ago at the beginning of the eighties of the 20th century. The first chairman was Dr Dragan Trifunović, a prominent scholar in that field.

A decade later, at the beginning of nineties, Dr Rade Dacić became chairman.

Since 2002, the chairman has been Dr Milan Božić. In that year, it was decided that the name should be changed to include Philosophy and sciences as Mechanics and Astronomy close to Mathematics and studied at the University of Belgrade at the Mathematical Faculty since the founding of the biggest and oldest University in Serbia.

As the scope of the Seminar has been widened, the participants and keynote speakers have grown in number and origin. This includes participants from almost all countries that emerged from former Yugoslavia and participants from many countries in the world.

Nowadays, the Seminar convenes on Tuesdays at noon during the academic year and now covers many topics that are interdisciplinary combining, for example, methodology, education, and popularization of science.
