The Seminar was founded in 2017. It endorses cooperation between researchers in the field of mathematics and related disciplines and converges the domains of research and practice in the field of decision making. In this regard, the seminar sessions include presentations of contemporary scientific achievements and challenges in the area of decision making and discussions of the problems that appear in practice and require decision making support. Additionally, the seminar organises workshops in the field of contemporary technologies and systems for decision making support.

  • This seminar focuses on, but is not limited to, the following three core thematic areas:
  • Theoretical concepts in the process of decision making – a preference relation, decision making in the context of risk, uncertainty or under ambiguity, group and individual decision making, statistical decision theory, mathematical optimisation, rational thinking theory, analytic hierarchy and network processes, probability theory and mathematical modelling;
  • Contemporary systems for decision making support – software packages for multicriteria decision making, geo-information systems, etc.;
  • Practical application of the theoretical models and systems of decision making in areas of urban planning and management (energy, waste, water, transport, etc.), emergency situations, safety, environmental protection, vulnerability assessment and processes of adaptation to climate change, life cycle assessment and education, etc.
