Seminar for Decision making – theory, technology and practice

Chairman:

dr Lazar Velimirović

Seminar tends to affirm cooperation between the researchers in the field of mathematics and related disciplines, as well as to converge domains of research and practice in the field of decision making. In this regard, seminar sessions include a presentation of contemporary scientific achievements and challenges in the area of decision making and discussion of the problems from practice that require decision making support. Also, the seminar includes the organization of workshops in the field of contemporary technologies and systems for decision making support.
This seminar focuses on, but is not limited to, the three core thematic areas:

  • theoretical concepts in the process of decision making - a preference relation, decision making in the context of risk, uncertainty or under ambiguity, group and individual decision making, statistical decision theory, mathematical optimization, rational thinking theory, analytic hierarchy and network processes, probability theory and mathematical modelling;
  • contemporary systems for decision making support - software packages for multicriteria decision making, geo-information systems, etc.;
  • practical application of the theoretical models and systems of decision making in areas of planning and management urban systems (energy, waste, water, transport, etc.), emergency situations, safety, environmental protection, vulnerability assessment and processes of adaptation to climate change, life cycle assessment and education, etc.

Starting from May 25th, the seminar sessions will be held every second Thursday from 13:00 to 14:30 at CIITLAB (Computation and Intelligence Laboratory Information Technologies), Faculty of Electronic Engineering University of Niš.
