May 15, 2026

The first meeting of the Institute's Committee took place on May 15, 1946, marking the beginning of the Institute’s work as an official unit of the Serbian Academy of Sciences. In recognition of this milestone, our Board later proclaimed May 15 as Mathematical Institute Day. To celebrate the 80th anniversary of the Institute, the Scientific Committee will hold a ceremonial session on May 15, 2026.

The exhibition, organized by the Henri Poincaré Institute (Sorbonne/CNRS) and the Mathematical Institute of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts will be held at the Gallery of Science and Technology of SASA, Đure Jakšića 2, Belgrade. More information is available at the following link.

March - May, 2026

Waves can be defined as disturbances of certain quantities that extend through time and space. In general, they are classified as either dispersive or hyperbolic. This course will establish the mathematical foundations of several types of hyperbolic waves, with an emphasis on illustrating them through examples of physical phenomena. The first lecture will be held on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at 4:00 p.m., in Room 301f of the Institute of Mathematics, Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts, 3rd floor, Knez Mihailova 36.
